We’re kicking off our new snapshot ‘5 minutes with…’ series by chatting to Adelaide musician, producer and creative whizz, Emma Knights.
Emma is celebrating 10 years this year of Emma Knights Productions.
We asked Emma how it began. “On June 19 in 2013, I ran my first ever Floating Melodies concert. This came about after having a spark of an idea whilst touring with Opera Queensland. I purchased the sets and costumes after this tour and brought them home to SA to run the opera, Space Encounters in South Australia. To raise funds to cover rehearsal costs to stage the opera, I decided to do three fundraising concerts. These concerts, Floating Melodies, became my flagship series as well as receiving a 2016 SA Tourism Silver Award and thus began Emma Knights Productions.
Are you doing anything to celebrate? “I have a series of ‘Brunch of Songs’ shows currently scheduled, plus other shows during the year. You can keep an eye on my website or social media for upcoming shows. I am always planning something new! I am also enjoying reflecting on the decisions, risks, friendships, trials and tribulations, and the journey that has been these 10 years.
My goal has always been to create a world of unique music-based immersive experiences whilst providing opportunities for local visual and performing artists, bringing joy and community together.
You can watch a short video here showing 10 years of Emma’s many productions and multiple awards.
And a final comment? “Much love to all of you who have been with me all along and to those who my have only been involved for a moment.”
We wish Emma all the very best over this special year and for the next 10 years…..and the next and the next!
