Let your curiosity have a wander to explore some unique venues this Adelaide Fringe.
The Courtyard of Curiosities at the Migration Museum is a venue on Kintore Avenue with three separate spaces; the Yurt, the Chapel and the Gallery. There is also a courtyard which includes a food and beverage offering and seating outside for before and after shows. Here are a few shows launching Wednesday February 28th.
The End of Winter 6:00PM
The End of Winter is a rich, imaginative story. The themes and ideas contained within the performance lean into the most significant issue of our time – the changing climate and the loss of seasons. Telling and sharing stories, from the scientific to the personal is one of the most important tools we have to truly understand the difference between weather and climate change.
Plenty of Fish in the Sea 7:40PM
Plenty of Fish in the Sea is a darkly humorous, and physically adventurous contemporary fable about ‘finding the perfect catch’. The show is a fantastical story and sees a traveller rescued from surging seas to a devout fishing village, coming face to face with an unsettling kind of hook up culture.
Inspired by the daily lived experience grappling with dating apps and modern hook up culture.
Blacklisted 9:10PM
Migrant stories are often told in the past, but this one is happening right here and now. A witty and poignant cabaret, Blacklisted is a beautiful immigration story as Almitra Mavalvala shares her journey from Pakistan to Canada with candour, vulnerability and grace. The narrative of displacement, experiences with racial profiling and setbacks with visa applications unfold through original music compositions influenced by Queen, The Eagles, Hamilton, South Asian orchestral music, blues and jazz.
