The Cabaret Fringe Festival opens Friday night 26th May 2023, in a variety of venues across metro Adelaide.
The open access cabaret festival is for everyone and by everyone and features established, emerging, classy and sassy performers. It’s accessible, affordable, engaging and entertaining. The Cabaret Fringe Festival has shows to suit everyone including singing, storytelling, music, mayhem, comedy, circus, burlesque and more. It’s all cabaret baby. It’s all cabaret.
This year CabFringe brings both a touch of the old and the new, paying homage to their foundations, the vision of the late great Frank Ford AM, founder of Adelaide Cabaret Festival as the ‘enfante terrible’ precocious sibling of Frank’s Cabaret Festival. From its delightfully seedy digs, Weimar Room on Hindley Street in its second incarnation, to the inclusive imaginative incubator third incarnation under the Boylan brothers at the locally loved LaBoheme. Introducing a new logo, new story tellers and stages in venues across Kaurna Yerta with all the artforms, world class talents and audience interaction of the past. What doesn’t thrill you makes you stranger.
CabLIVE is CabFringe’s dazzling new nightly event. Hosted by dynamic drag queen, Dolly Diamond and accompanied by world class musician Will Metzer (who has played The Ritz in London, Raffles in Singapore and recently with Pseudo Echo in Adelaide). Think speakeasy style, iconic open mic nights reminiscent of LaBoheme past, lingering in the picturesque Piccadilly Lounge and being entertained by the energy and enthusiasm of emerging new entertainers and memorable past performers who are coming to play in this unscripted space.
