This one-man circus/magic show feels like a much larger production that just one person. Each magical move is carefully choreographed to the music to add impact and suspense at the same time. Mr Jeff works the audience like one of his mystifying props with lots of gasps of awe and cheers for more.
The show opens with hat juggling and progresses through hoop tricks, magic balls and object manipulation, all of which are totally mesmerising. Mr Jeff manages to engage with the audience throughout the performance without uttering a single word; his clever use of mime and facial expressions cleverly display his emotions and frustrations. The children in the audience will love this performance especially the 3-12-year olds as there are many intentional trip ups, deliberate mistakes and colourful tricks.
Many of the magic tricks will leave you scratching your head in wonder and nodding in admiration. Mr Jeff is a true performer who performs from the heart. This is his first time at the Adelaide Fringe where he is already a huge hit with audiences.
The Parasol Lounge, Gluttony is a perfect setting for this Fringe act with its gradually raised theatre seating enabling small children and adults to see every small detail. This is a fantastic choice if you want to see something suitable for children of all ages but equally entertaining for adults. Watch out for the giant balloon at the end of the performance – very amusing and a great display of light-hearted fun for all.
This show was viewed at an almost sold out performance at the Parasol Lounge, Gluttony. Catch the Quizzical Mr Jeff, nightly until the 17t March 2019 as part of the Adelaide Fringe.
