Holden Street Theatres

Three shows in one day at Holden Street Theatres Adelaide Fringe Media launch last Wednesday – thank you for having us.

The Portable Dorothy Parker – in true Parker style, a caustic quip every minute

Grav – who knew the story of a rugby player could be so moving

England and Son – confronting. grimly humorous and, loud!

All three were single handers and we are in awe of each actor’s ability to sustain their performances and commit wall to wall, complex dialogue to memory, and deliver it flawlessly.

Sam About Town’s pick of the three … “Grav”. What this About Towner knows about rugby could be written on the tip of a boot sprig, never-the-less this performance by Welsh actor Gareth J Bale, exploring the life and times of one of Wales’ most loved sons, rugby player Ray Gravell, captured and captivated me from start to finish. Highs, lows, humour and sadness – all in a locker room. Seize the ticket!
